Annette Lake

2015-11-21

I went hiking with some of my friends today. We got to the trailhead around 7am and were done hiking around noon, although it honestly felt more like 6pm considering how low the sun was in the sky. Conditions were slightly slick on the way up, and on the way down they deteriorated to become a bit more icy. I think we were the first people up, but the parking lot was full by the time we got back. This is probably partly because the I-90 corridor is so popular, and partly because a lot of other trails are closed due to snow.

Ice forming on the edge of the lake

The sunlight on nearby mountains. I don't think the lake was touched by direct sunlight all day.

Ice floes on the lake

Humpback mountain on the way back down. It's funny, after the NASA announcement of water on Mars, when I look at those creeks, I see an Earth version of recurring slope lineae.
